Internet Pioneer David Bohnett Invests in Web Incubator Bold New World

David Bohnett, founder and former chair of GeoCities, has made a cash investment and will serve on the Board of Advisors of Bold New World, an Internet incubation firm based in Los Angeles. The investment in Bold New World was made by Bohnett's Internet investment company, Baroda Ventures, LLC.

Bohnett, one of the most recognized names in the Internet industry, will also serve on the Board of Advisors of selected Bold New World equity projects including PLAN4ever.com, the leading e-commerce and information portal dedicated to death and end-of-life issues. Launched in April 1999, PLAN4ever.com offers the most comprehensive array of pre-planning, funeral and condolence products, as well as memorialization services, assistance and information.

As the founder of GeoCities, Mr. Bohnett championed the concept of providing free home pages on the web, and built a business model based on advertising, sponsorship, and electronic commerce. GeoCities became publicly traded on NASDAQ in August of 1998, and was acquired in May of this year by Yahoo!.

A major player in the Internet world, Mr. Bohnett has been voted as one of Time Digital's "Top 50 Cyber Elite" and Newsweek's, "100 People to Watch in the Next Millennium." His current activities include managing a portfolio of investments through his investment company, Baroda Ventures, and serving as the executive director of the David Bohnett Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on improving society through social activism. Mr. Bohnett also serves on the Boards of NCR Corporation, Stamps.com, NetZero, and other privately held Internet ventures.

"I'm excited to add Bold New World to the Baroda Ventures portfolio of investments", said Mr. Bohnett. "PLAN4ever.com is one of the first and most exciting sites to launch from Bold New World's innovative business incubator model."

Bold New World's Internet incubator provides a wide range of technology, communications, management, financing, and planning solutions for web-based start-up companies. The principals of Bold New World have held senior positions with some of the most successful Internet companies including GeoCities, CNET, and E!Online as well as providing marketing solutions for a wide array of Fortune 500 companies such as IBM, America Online, Pepsi, Seagram Americas, and American Airlines.

"Our company was founded four years ago as a spin-off of David Bohnett's first Internet venture, Beverly Hills Internet, and we are thrilled to have him back as part of the team," commented Stuart Miller, CEO of Bold New World. "His expertise comes at a critical time as Bold New World moves to take its equity projects, such as PLAN4ever.com, to their next level of success."

In addition to its Internet incubator, Bold New World also maintains various professional services divisions, offering an array of solutions designed to create Internet success. These services range from the creation and management of web advertising campaigns, to the development of we site user interface models, technology solutions and e-commerce applications. Bold New World has built a large portfolio of client success stories, including MGM Television, DVD Express, BuyIt.com, MADtv, Arianna Online, Chiroweb, and Internet Mercado.

Preparing for The Sweet Hereafter with Plan4ever.com

There are two givens in life: birth and death. Birth is a happy occasion while death often brings grief, uncertainty, and sadness. Added to those emotions is the burden of making funeral arrangements, and deciding how to memorialize and offer condolences for the deceased.

Introducing PLAN4ever.com, a Los Angeles-based Internet service that will change how Americans view memorialization, condolence, and funeral issues. PLAN4ever readies individuals for the questions that inevitably arise when a loved one passes away: Where should he/she be laid to rest? What do I send? How do I make a donation? What is all this going to cost?

PLAN4ever takes the mystery out of the process, putting the consumer in control, making preparations as easy as possible, and saving money. PLAN4ever provides those who must make necessary arrangements with the opportunity to do so privately and at their convenience. Services include:

The Virtual Garden feature of PLAN4ever is a highlight of the site. The celebrity garden allows the millions who pay homage at places like Graceland or Jim Morrison's grave in Paris to do so without buying a plane ticket. To memorialize friends, family, and pets in the Virtual Gardens, PLAN4ever offers an easy-to-use, self-building web site that contains information about and pictures of the deceased, as well as a guestbook where visitors can leave their condolences.

In the wake of the tragedy Columbine High School in Littleton, CO, PLAN4ever established a special Virtual Garden where people from all over the world have left messages for the family and friends of the deceased. The site also allows visitors to make donations, free of charge, to The Healing Fund.
